Tea price rise touches Rs.3 in Coonoor auction

The Nilgiris: In the first online tea auction of the year held on January 3 and 4, in Coonoor, the price rise of tea went up to a range of Rs.2 to Rs.3, bringing a smile on the tea farmers' faces.

The Nilgiris: In the first online tea auction of the year held on January 3 and 4, in Coonoor, the price rise of tea went up to a range of Rs.2 to Rs.3, bringing a smile on the tea farmers' faces. 



Tea merchants from Pakistan and Bangladesh also participated in the auction. 17.82 lakh kgs of tea was sold. Tea merchants opine that the rise in price was due to the heavy frost that resulted in the downfall of tea yield in the Nilgiris.
