Police detains lorry with 20 lakh worth of coins

Today morning, the police seized a container lorry at Cross cut road, Gandhipuram at around 10 am. As per the traffic rules, heavy vehicles are not allowed to enter the city after 10:00 am, hence the police stopped the heavy for inquiry.

The Police personnel upon enquiry learned that the lorry was carrying 20 lakh worth of coins to the Syndicate bank, Coimbatore Branch. The police found that no proper security measures were implemented in the lorry to carry the coins in bulk and also the driver was in a drunken state. Hence the police detained the lorry and called the bank officials to the spot.

The Manager of the Syndicate Bank, Coimbatore branch arrived to the spot and after due verification of documents, the container was hander over to him.
