Coimbatore : A daring woman who gave a hot chase to burglars, with a billhook in hand has been lauded for her courage. The burglars had broken into a neighbor’s house in the wee hours of Sunday. According to the police, burglars who entered the house of Srinivasa Prabhu (51) of Srivari Garden near Pannimadai had looted 10 sovereigns of gold ornaments when the family was away in Dharapuram.
Kayalvizhi, the neighbor who heard the commotion rushed outside with a billhook in her hands and chased the burglars who however managed to escape from the scene.
In another incident of burglary at Ramasamy Nagar in Narasimanaickenpalayam, burglars broke open the house of Mayandi, a fruit vendor and decamped with 11 sovereigns of gold ornaments.
The Perianaickenpalayam police lifted fingerprints from the spot and are investigating the burglary.
