Citizen’s Voice Coimbatore, a city-based consumer forum has demanded the district administration to implement a monitoring mechanism over cable TV operators here. The forum also demanded the district administration to ensure that the recent TRAI regulations are implemented.
In a petition to District Collector T.N Hariharan, the forum said that Cable TV operators are refusing to implement the recent regulations from TRAI and alleged that cable TV operators are determinate in fleecing the consumers. The forum observed that the recent mandate by TRAI will be of great benefit to consumers and TRAI has issued orders only after taking into consideration all stakeholders. Citizen’s Voice also alleged that cable TV operators also refuse to provide the services of the State-owned Arasu cable TV.
The forum requested District Collector is requested to ensure the implementation of the mandate of the TRAI as well as the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable service. They also demanded a permanent monitoring mechanism to be put in place for the protection of the consumers.
