Recently, a 23-year-old pregnant woman undergoing treatment at a Government Hospital in Sattur was transfused HIV positive blood by accident. The donor, who discovered that he was HIV positive during a routine medical checkup done earlier this month alerted the Hospital about the recent blood donation drive he took part immediately and advised them to not to donate his blood to anybody. However, due to lapse in the screening processes, the infected blood was transfused to the pregnant woman.
