Visakhapatnam : The first-of-a-kind initiative by Visakhapatnam Corporation has set a trend, as floating solar panels will yield in generating 2000 KW power production, under the Smart City Project.
Visakhapatnam : The first-of-a-kind initiative by Visakhapatnam Corporation has set a trend, as floating solar panels will yield in generating 2000 KW power production, under the Smart City Project.
While existing floating solar modules installed in the other cities are capable of producing 10 KW to 500 KW, the floating solar panel by Visakhapatnam Corporation can generate upto 2000 KW. Spread over 20 acres on the Mudasarlova reservoir, this solar panel was set up in a time span of 7 months.
Structured to survive heavy water flow and waves, through this solar panel Visakhapatnam Corporation could save Rs. 50,000 every day. The solar power plant can save usage of 1,540 tonnes of coal used for generating power.
Sources claim that power production can be carried out for the next 25 years with this solar plant.
Visakhapatnam has planned for many such power consumption and generation schemes which is expected to be carried out very sooner. The solar panel also helps prevent water from the reservoir getting vaporized and will cause no adverse effects to the fishes in the reservoir.
