Coimbatore : District Collector, T.N. Hariharan inaugurated a cultural dance awareness programme which would tour the District to instill awareness among the public on the ill-effects of drinking and illicit liquor.

The folk cultural troupe would travel across various parts of the District including Pollachi, Valparai to create awareness on adverse effects of alcohol consumption.
The Sivaganga- based troupe 'Karunakuyil Kalaikulu' would travel as 14 small teams consisting of five members each and showcase their skills in Silambattam, Oyillattam, Karagattam, Thappattam and other such folk forms, through which the social evils of drinking would be disseminated to the public.
Tamilnadu Prohibition and Excise department has organized this propaganda cultural programmes for the benefit of the general public.
