The Nilgiris : A 3-year-old leopard was found dead near Coonoor today. Forest officials are investigating.
A 3-year-old leopard was found dead near a residential area in Vandicholai, Coonoor. Public alerted the forest officials who immediately rushed to the spot and recovered the carcass of the leopard.
Forest officials said that the leopard got stuck in barbed wire fencing on December 12. The animal could have rested on the cement pillar of the fencing for some time before it suffocated to death.
The Forest officials also speculated that the leopard could have been attacked by a bear or another leopard that could have led to the death of the animal.
