Coimbatore : Coimbatore : Over 10000 job seekers, including students, freshers and housewives from all over Coimbatore and its neighbouring districts thronged the mega job fair conducted jointly by BJP's Makkal Sevai Maiyam and CADD centre in Hindustan College today.
The expo began at 10 am this morning and is expected to go on till 5 pm. Vanathi Srinivasan, General Secretary of Tamil Nadu BJP presided over the event.
Over 100 companies in and around Coimbatore, including Lakshmi Mills Limited, Emerald Jewel Industry Limited, KGisl, KMCH, Manchester International School, KPR mills and ABT Maruti comprised the job expo luring job seekers.
All types of job offers from delivery executives to teachers and IT professionals were being offered under one roof.
It is estimated that over 500 candidates went home with job appointment letters in hand.
“This is not a one time affair. The Makkal Sevai Maiyam will continue to work for the benefit of the unemployed,” said Vanathi Srinivasan.
Along with companies, consultancies and skill training centres also had their exhibits. The skill training centres comprised of beautician courses by Naturals, Skilllease, Work Force Central, CADD Centre and Dream Zone.
Job seekers were of the consensus that they had a satisfying exposure at the Job Expo. Most of the job offers were for engineering graduates and marketing executives with a salary package of approximately minimum 2 lakhs per annum.
There were also consultancies exclusively for women and also for part-timers. “Close to 90% of the companies, are willing to hire only engineers and sales executives. Opportunities for graduates from other fields are low,” opined an M.Sc. Mathematics graduate.
