Hindu Makkal party insists on facilities at Perur for 'Aadi Perukku'

Thousands of locals throng Perur to celebrate the ancient festival 'Aadi Perukku', which falls on August 2nd this year. People gather at the Perur water beds to offer their prayers and rituals for all departed souls of their families.

The delayed monsoons have upset the people, as the water beds at Perur and adjoining rivers remain dry.

Today, activists of Hindu Makkal Katchi filed a petition to the district collector to get the Perur water beds ready for celebrating 'Aadi Perukku'. They demanded that the district administration should provide adequate water supply at the river bed, install toilet facilities, increase the bus facilities to Perur on the day of event and ensure safety of all the devotees.
