Heavy Rains Likely in Kolkata, North Bengal in next few days

Kolkata: The Met department on Thursday forecast heavy rains for the next two days in the metropolis and districts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal after days of rain scarcity.

There was, however, little or no rainfall in different parts of the state on Thursday.

While the hill town of Darjeeling recorded 9.1 mm rainfall, the Met department said adding, in Coochbehar and Jalpaiguri, the rainfall amounted to 11.4 mm and 6.7 mm respectively.

Gangetic West Bengal went almost dry throughout the day as high humidity caused discomfort among the denizens.

The weatherman has forecast heavy rains in the districts of Darjeeling, Coochbehar and Jalpaiguri in the next three to four days.

In Gangetic West Bengal, Kolkata is likely to experience heavy rainfall in the next couple of days along with coastal areas, while in the interior districts, thunderstorms or one or two spells of rain might occur.
