Coimbatore: As part of the Tamil Nadu Government's "Singappen Special Force" initiative aimed at preventing crimes against women and children, the Coimbatore District Police intensified surveillance and awareness activities across the district.

The district-level operations of the Singappen Special Force were launched on June 10 by District Superintendent of Police A. Pavan Kumar, IPS. Continuing the initiative, police personnel carried out special field operations within the jurisdiction of the Mettupalayam Police Station.

Special patrols and surveillance were conducted at bus stands, bus stops, areas near educational institutions, commercial establishments and other crowded public places to enhance vigilance and ensure public safety.

As part of the outreach programme, the police created awareness among the public on crimes against women and children, cyber fraud, safe use of social media, child protection measures and emergency assistance services, including the Child Helpline 1098.

Women and children were encouraged to approach the police without fear to report harassment, abuse or any other criminal incidents affecting them. The public was assured of prompt support and assistance from the Coimbatore District Police.
