Rash driving allegedly in an inebriated state severely injures two in Pooluvampatty

Coimbatore: Just as Coimbatore was rejoicing the arrival of Noyyal, two people were severely injured in a case of rash driving allegedly under the influence of alcohol near Pooluvampatty.


Coimbatore: Just as Coimbatore was rejoicing the arrival of Noyyal, two people were severely injured in a case of rash driving allegedly under the influence of alcohol near Pooluvampatty.

According to sources, 4 to 5 youngsters allegedly in an inebriated state were rashly driving a white Maruti Swift car on Pooluvampatty road.

In a fit of rage, they hit Santhosh Raj (approximately 27 years) and his mom traveling in a bike near Kumaran Kalyana Mandapam.

Locals who witnessed the accident described that the car hit the bike while overtaking rashly on the right hand side of the road.



Immediately after the accident when the locals rushed to the spot the youngsters dropped their vehicles and ran away. Locals who rushed to the spot saw beer bottles in the car. 



Both Santhosh Raj and his mom were severely injured and have been taken to the Government Hospital in 108 ambulance. Alandurai police are investigating the case. 

Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs has become a menace in Coimbatore and public are expecting serious action against offenders by the Police Department.
