“NO smoking ban” in public areas comes into force in tourist town of Coonoor

Those found smoking in public places in the tourist town of Coonoor would be slapped with spot fine and official teams have pressed into service to implement the no smoking law said Nilgris District Collector P. Shankar.

Siraj, Coonoor Municipal Commissioner said that teams headed by Town welfare officer Raghunathan and Sanitary Inspectors Balmurugan and Baskaran slapped the spot fines of Rs.100 on smokers in Coonoor bus stand, Samathuva poonga and other public areas in the town.

The team would monitor all the public areas for any violation of the smoking ban.
