A woman and a man sustained serious injuries in two separate road accidents on Sowripalayam Road and the Kavundampalayam–Edayarpalayam stretch in Coimbatore. Both are undergoing treatment at private hospitals for head and other injuries.
Coimbatore: Kalaivani, 46, wife of Sundaresan and a resident of Singanallur, was riding her scooter on Sowripalayam Road when a car allegedly hit her two-wheeler from behind. Police said the car was being driven at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner.
She sustained serious injuries to the back of her head, hip and right shoulder, and was bleeding from her ear. She was initially taken to the Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital and later shifted to PSG Hospitals for further treatment.
The East Traffic Investigation Wing police registered a case against Selvaraj, 65, of Uppilipalayam, who was allegedly driving the car.
In another accident, Prakash, 44, a resident of Vivekananda Street in Edayarpalayam, was riding his scooter on the Kavundampalayam–Edayarpalayam Road when a car allegedly collided head-on with his vehicle near Rathna Kalyana Mandapam.
Prakash sustained serious head injuries and was admitted to Ganga Hospital for treatment. The West Traffic Investigation Wing police registered a case against Ilango, 51, of Vadavalli, who was allegedly driving the car, and are investigating the accident.
