The Vadavalli police arrested Shankar (43), a resident of Seeranaickenpalayam, for allegedly attacking a TASMAC employee with an empty liquor bottle during an argument over its return at TASMAC shop No. 1645 in Veerakeralam, Coimbatore.
A 43-year-old man was arrested by the Vadavalli police after he allegedly attacked an employee of a TASMAC outlet in Veerakeralam, Coimbatore, with an empty liquor bottle during an argument over returning the bottle.
The incident occurred at TASMAC shop No. 1645 in Veerakeralam. The accused, identified as Shankar (43), a resident of Anna Street in Seeranaickenpalayam, had reportedly visited the outlet to return an empty liquor bottle.
Sureshbabu (45), a native of Ramanathapuram district, was working as the supervisor at the shop. Salespersons Saravanakumar, Madhiazhagan and Sesaraja were also on duty at the time.
According to the police, the employees asked Shankar to hand over the empty bottle at the designated place in front of the shop. An argument subsequently broke out between him and the employees.
During the altercation, Shankar allegedly abused the employees and attacked Saravanakumar on the head with the empty bottle. Saravanakumar sustained injuries and began bleeding, the police said.
As the supervisor and other employees raised an alarm, people from the neighbourhood gathered at the spot. Shankar allegedly dropped the bottle and fled from the scene.
Based on a complaint, the Vadavalli police registered a case and subsequently arrested Shankar. Further investigation is under way.
