College Student Killed in Road Accident; Two Injured After Tipper Lorry Hits Two-Wheeler in Coimbatore

A 17-year-old, a first year college student was killed and two others were seriously injured after the two-wheeler they were travelling on collided with a tipper lorry near Arivoli Nagar in Kovaipudur, Coimbatore. The injured were rushed to government hospital for treatment.

Coimbatore: A 17-year-old college student was killed and two others were seriously injured in a road accident near Arivoli Nagar on the Kovaipudur road in Coimbatore.

According to the police, three college students were travelling on a single two-wheeler when they were involved in the accident near the Arivoli Nagar ring road. The incident occurred while they were proceeding towards Kovaipudur on a bend in the road.

The two-wheeler, a TVS Jupiter bike reportedly collided with the rear wheel of an oncoming tipper lorry.

In the impact, Dharish (17), who was seated at the rear of the two-wheeler, became trapped under the rear wheel of the lorry and died at the spot. He was a first-year B.Com CA student at Krishna Adithya College in Arivoli Nagar.

The two other students, Kavinraj (19) and Gokul (19), sustained serious injuries and fell on the road. Members of the public immediately rescued them and sent them to Coimbatore Government Hospital in a 108 ambulance for treatment.

Kavinraj is a second-year B.Com CA student at Krishna Adithya College, while Gokul is also pursuing second-year B.Com CA at the same college.

Police rushed to the spot following the accident and have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
