Banned Kerala Lottery Tickets Seized at Ukkadam Bus Stand; Man Held

Police arrested Syed Ibrahim, a resident of Kottaimedu, for allegedly selling Kerala lottery tickets banned in Tamil Nadu at the Ukkadam New Bus Stand in Coimbatore. He was detained by Woman Special Sub-Inspector Jayashree during a police inspection, and 10 ‘Karunya Plus’ lottery tickets were seized from his possession.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore City Police have intensified surveillance to curb the illegal sale of lottery tickets banned in Tamil Nadu. As part of the enforcement drive, police conducted a surprise inspection at the Ukkadam New Bus Stand premises.

The inspection was led by Woman Special Sub-Inspector Jayashree of the Ukkadam Police Station. During the operation, police noticed a man behaving suspiciously and detained him for questioning. He was identified as 54-year-old Syed Ibrahim, a resident of Kottai Durgalal Street in Coimbatore.

A subsequent search allegedly revealed that Syed Ibrahim was in possession of Kerala State ‘Karunya Plus’ lottery tickets, which are prohibited for sale in Tamil Nadu. Police seized 10 lottery tickets from him.

Syed Ibrahim was subsequently arrested and further investigation is underway.
