Coimbatore Corporation Mayor Inspects Stormwater Drain Cleaning Works in North Zone

Coimbatore Corporation Mayor K Ranganayaki Ramachandran personally inspected stormwater drain cleaning works in Ward 27 of the North Zone. She reviewed various development projects in Peelamedu, Vairavar Nagar, and Aavaram Palayam areas and issued instructions to officials.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Mayor K Ranganayaki Ramachandran conducted an on-site inspection of stormwater drain cleaning works in areas under Ward 27 of the North Zone today (21.08.2025).



The Mayor personally visited and reviewed underground sewerage project works and 24-hour drinking water scheme works at Rangammal Kovil Street in Peelamedu under Ward 27 of the North Zone. She also inspected road re-laying works in Vairavar Nagar area and stormwater drain cleaning works at Aavaram Palayam Road and Duraisamy Nagar area.



During the inspection, the Mayor instructed officials to complete the works expeditiously. She emphasized that works aimed at improving basic amenities for citizens should be carried out without delay.



Earlier, the Mayor also reviewed the widening of a small bridge located in Shanthi Nagar area under Ward 26 and the relocation of electric poles in that area. It was informed that the bridge will be widened to reduce traffic congestion in this area.

During these inspections, Councillor Ambika Dhanapal, Assistant Commissioner Mohanasundari, Executive Engineer Devadas, Assistant Executive Engineer Sathyamoorthy (Public Works), Zonal Health Officer Murugan, Assistant Engineer Kumar and several Corporation officials were present.

Mayor K Ranganayaki Ramachandran noted that all stormwater drains must function properly in anticipation of the rainy season. She stated that by streamlining the city's drainage system, waterlogging problems during the monsoon can be avoided.
