Amaravathi Dam Water Level Rises to 51.12 Feet; Thirumoorthy Dam Receives 461 Cusecs Inflow

Amaravathi Dam water level in Tiruppur district stands at 51.12 feet while Thirumoorthy Dam level is at 29.99 feet. Water Resources Department officials reported continuous inflow to both dams. Water level details as of July 20 have been released by authorities.


Coimbatore: The Water Resources Department officials have released details about the water levels in Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams located in Tiruppur district as of July 20.

Amaravathi Dam in Tiruppur district has a storage capacity of 90 feet. Due to continuous inflow from the catchment areas, the water level has risen to 51.12 feet as of today, July 20. The dam is receiving an inflow of 89 cubic feet per second. Currently, no water is being released from the dam, Water Resources Department officials informed.


Similarly, Thirumoorthy Dam located near Udumalaipettai in Tiruppur district has a storage capacity of 60 feet. With continuous water inflow from the catchment areas, the water level has been recorded at 29.99 feet as of today, July 20. The dam is receiving an inflow of 461 cubic feet per second, while 21 cubic feet per second is being released from the dam, officials stated.


Farmers have expressed happiness as the water inflow continues to increase in both dams. The water levels in the dams are expected to rise further during the monsoon season, bringing relief to the agricultural community in the region.


The steady inflow to both reservoirs indicates favorable conditions for irrigation and agricultural activities in Tiruppur district. The Water Resources Department is closely monitoring the water levels and managing the releases accordingly to ensure optimal utilization for farming purposes.
