Travel Advisory: Karur Track Works to Affect Three Express Trains on July 4

The Salem Railway Division has announced changes to the Mayiladuthurai–Salem Express, Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli Express and Salem–Mayiladuthurai Express on July 4, 2026, due to track renewal and maintenance works at Karur Railway Yard.


Coimbatore: The Salem Division of Southern Railway has announced temporary changes to the operation of three express trains on July 4, 2026, in view of track renewal and maintenance works at Karur Railway Yard.

According to the notification, Train No. 16811 Mayiladuthurai–Salem Express, scheduled to depart at 6.15 a.m., will be short-terminated at Virarakkiyam and will remain partially cancelled between Virarakkiyam and Salem Junction.

Similarly, Train No. 16844 Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli Express, scheduled to depart at 6.30 a.m., will be short-terminated at Pasur. An unreserved special train will be operated from Pasur to Tiruchchirappalli Junction after the completion of the maintenance works.

Meanwhile, Train No. 16812 Salem–Mayiladuthurai Express, scheduled to depart at 2.05 p.m., will be partially cancelled between Salem and Karur. The train will instead commence its journey from Karur at 3.40 p.m.

The Salem Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) has requested commuters and passengers to take note of these temporary changes and plan their journeys accordingly.
