Free 3D artificial limb camp for differently-abled in Coimbatore

Narayan Seva Sansthan will organise a free corrective surgery screening and 3D artificial limb measurement camp for differently-abled persons in Coimbatore on May 24 using Japanese-German rehabilitation technology.

Coimbatore:

Narayan Seva Sansthan, a national award-winning social service organisation, will organise a free corrective surgery screening, selection and artificial limb measurement camp for differently-abled persons in Coimbatore on May 24.

The camp will focus on providing advanced 3D Printed Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs developed using Japanese and German technology to help beneficiaries lead a more independent and confident life.

A press conference regarding the initiative was held at Rajasthani Hall in RS Puram, where camp coordinator Achal Singh Bhati and social worker Santosh Mundra shared details about the programme.

According to the organisers, this is the second consecutive year the camp is being conducted in Coimbatore. During the previous edition, more than 650 differently-abled individuals benefited through artificial limbs, medical assistance and rehabilitation support.

The camp will be held on Sunday, May 24, at Maheshwari Bhavan premises, KNG Pudur Pirivu, Somayampalayam, Thadagam Main Road. Registration and medical examinations will be conducted between 8 am and 4 pm.

The initiative is being organised with the support of Matrushree Shantaben Tribhuvandas Patel Charitable Trust from Surat, Gujarat.

Achal Singh Bhati said the camp aims not only to provide artificial limbs but also to bring long-term transformation in the lives of differently-abled individuals through modern rehabilitation technology.

He explained that digital measurements would be taken to prepare lightweight and flexible 3D printed artificial limbs tailored to each individual’s body structure. Compared to conventional artificial limbs, these modular limbs are said to offer greater comfort, durability and mobility.

A specialised team of orthotists and prosthetists from the institution will conduct assessments and measurements for beneficiaries. The personalised artificial limbs will be distributed free of cost approximately two months after the measurement process.

Individuals requiring corrective surgeries will also be identified and selected for free treatment at the institution’s hospital in Udaipur.

Social activist Santosh Mundra stated that the organisers are aiming to reach as many differently-abled individuals as possible from Coimbatore and surrounding districts. Free food and refreshments will also be provided to participants and their family members attending the camp.

Speaking at the event, TM Patel International School Chairman Harishbhai Patel stressed that empowering differently-abled individuals through healthcare, education and rehabilitation is a collective social responsibility.

The official poster for the camp was released by organisers Achal Singh Bhati, Santosh Mundra, Jitendra Pugalia, Kamal Kishore Agrawal and Rajesh Agrawal.
