DMK candidate Kutty alias Sudhakar filed his nomination papers for the Valparai Assembly constituency on the last day of filing, April 7, 2026. Dr. Mahendiran, the constituency in-charge, and alliance party members attended the event at Anaimalai.

Coimbatore: As April 7, 2026 marks the last day for filing nomination papers for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, candidates across the state have been submitting their applications to contest in the upcoming polls.

In the Valparai Assembly constituency, DMK has fielded Kutty alias Sudhakar as their candidate. The nomination filing ceremony took place today at the election office in the Anaimalai region, where the returning officer accepted the papers.

The event witnessed the presence of Dr. Mahendiran, who serves as the DMK's Valparai Assembly constituency in-charge, along with representatives from allied parties. The coalition partners extended their support to the DMK candidate during the nomination filing process.

Valparai, a hill station constituency in the Coimbatore district, has traditionally been a keenly contested seat in Tamil Nadu politics. The presence of alliance party members during the nomination filing indicates the united front that DMK is presenting for the upcoming Assembly elections.

With the deadline for nomination filing now passed, the scrutiny process will begin, followed by the withdrawal period, before the final list of contesting candidates is announced for the Valparai constituency.
