BJP candidate and MLA Vanathi Srinivasan filed her nomination for the Coimbatore North Assembly constituency on Tuesday, in the presence of senior party leaders and alliance members.
The event turned into a major show of strength for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma attending as a special guest. Former Tamil Nadu BJP State President Annamalai was also present, energising party cadres.
Ahead of the nomination filing, a large rally was held from Vadavalli Lali Road, passing through the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University area. Thousands of party workers and supporters participated in the procession, accompanied by traditional drums and slogans in support of the candidate.
Vanathi Srinivasan later submitted her nomination papers to the Returning Officer Vani Lakshmi Jegadambal at the Agricultural Engineering Department office on Thadagam Road.
Leaders and cadres from NDA alliance parties, including representatives from AIADMK, took part in the event, reflecting unity within the alliance ahead of the elections.
The filing marks the formal start of Vanathi Srinivasan’s campaign in Coimbatore North, where a multi-cornered contest is expected in the upcoming Assembly elections.
