PARK College of Engineering Celebrates World Water Day and World Forest Day with Environmental Awareness Programs

PARK College of Engineering in Karumathampatti, Coimbatore, celebrated World Water Day and World Forest Day on March 28, 2026. The Department of Environmental Engineering organized competitions, awareness programs, and tree plantation drive involving students and faculty members.


Coimbatore: PARK College of Engineering in Karumathampatti marked World Water Day and World Forest Day with environmental awareness programs and competitions on March 28, 2026. The event was organized by the Department of Environmental Engineering to emphasize the importance of water conservation and forest protection among engineering students.

Dr. Anusha Ravi, Chief Executive Officer of PARK Educational Institutions, presided over the function and delivered the presidential address. She stressed the critical importance of water conservation and forest preservation, urging engineering students across all departments to actively participate in saving water resources and creating new forests through tree plantation while protecting existing natural resources.



The special guest for the occasion was Ranjith Kumar Chinnasamy, an alumnus of the Environmental Engineering Department and Environmental Assessor at TUV India Private Limited. In his special address, he highlighted the significant role that environmental engineering students can play in protecting the environment and contributing to sustainable development.



The celebration featured multiple competitions for students, including quiz contests, speech competitions, and drawing competitions centered on the themes of World Water Day and World Forest Day. Winners of these competitions were awarded certificates in recognition of their participation and achievements.

Dr. K Kumaresan, Principal of the college, delivered the felicitation address during the event. The program was meticulously organized by Dr. C Angalaparameswari, Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering, along with Dr. R Harish, Associate Head, A Raja, NSS Programme Officer, and other faculty members.

As a highlight of the celebration, guests and students planted 100 saplings on the college campus, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation. The tree plantation drive served as a practical demonstration of the day's message about the importance of forests and green cover for environmental sustainability.

The event successfully raised awareness among students about water conservation and forest protection, encouraging them to become environmental stewards in their professional careers.
