Taiwan industry representatives explored investment opportunities in Tamil Nadu across nonwoven textiles, automotive and footwear sectors during B2B meetings held in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore:
Taiwan-based companies have shown strong interest in investing in Tamil Nadu across sectors including nonwoven textiles, automotive and non-leather footwear during a series of business meetings held in Coimbatore.

The interactions were organised as part of the Tamil Nadu–Taiwan Technical Textile Partnership Summit, with participation from representatives of the Taiwan Nonwoven Fabric Industry Association (TNFIA) and leading industrial players from the State.
The Tamil Nadu Textile Panel facilitated exclusive B2B meetings between Taiwanese delegates and local industries to explore joint ventures and technology collaborations.
Industry representatives said the meetings helped strengthen direct engagement and opened up multiple collaboration opportunities across value-added sectors such as nonwoven fabrics, automotive components and non-leather footwear manufacturing.
CII Tamil Nadu Textile Panel Convenor G. R. Gopikumar and Co-convenor K. A. Vel Krishna noted that Tamil Nadu already holds a leading position in automotive and leather industries. They highlighted that the State contributes around 35–40 percent of India’s footwear production and nearly 45 percent of exports.
They also pointed out that while leather footwear currently dominates the sector, global demand is increasingly shifting towards non-leather alternatives, creating significant growth opportunities for Tamil Nadu.
The Taiwanese delegation expressed interest in evaluating the feasibility of establishing a complete value chain in Tamil Nadu, spanning fibres, nonwoven materials and finished products. Their focus includes investments in manufacturing facilities and technology partnerships.
Companies in the delegation included Shinih Enterprise Co Ltd, Taiwan Kureha Co Ltd, Nu Cotton International Co Ltd, Hsinnjy Industrial Co Ltd, Zhejiang Boretch Environmental Engineering Co Ltd and Always Champion Enterprise Co Ltd, specialising in automotive materials, recycled fibres, nonwoven textiles and sustainable solutions.
Industry sources said Taiwan’s expertise in technical textiles and advanced manufacturing technologies could play a key role in strengthening Tamil Nadu’s industrial ecosystem and enhancing its global competitiveness.
More than 60 companies participated in the B2B meetings, with over 200 buyer-seller interactions conducted during the event, indicating strong interest in cross-border collaboration.
Officials said the partnership is expected to boost value addition, increase exports and strengthen Tamil Nadu’s position in the global nonwoven and non-leather footwear markets.
