Coimbatore Corporation's Two-Day Special Camp Collects ₹33.60 Lakh in Taxes

Coimbatore Corporation conducted a two-day special tax collection camp on October 7 and 8, 2024, across its five zones, resulting in a total collection of ₹33,60,225.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation has successfully collected a total of ₹33,60,225 in taxes during a special two-day camp held on October 7 and 8, 2024. The first day saw a collection of ₹22,46,756, followed by ₹11,13,469 on the second day. This special camp was conducted across all five zones of the corporation.

In the East Zone, the camp at Ondipudur Ground collected ₹7,50,000. The West Zone camps at Manjeeswari Colony and Seeranaickenpalayam together collected ₹6,80,000. The South Zone camp in Kuniyamuthur area gathered ₹5,90,000, while the North Zone camps at Gandhi Nagar and Janata Nagar collected ₹6,20,000. The Central Zone camps at Narayanasamy Street and Kempatti Colony accumulated ₹7,20,225.

The Corporation Commissioner stated, "Compared to last year, this year's tax collection has increased by 5%." He noted that in the first half of the 2023-24 financial year, the tax collection was at 45%, whereas this year it has reached 50% for the same period.

Over 15,000 people paid their taxes during this two-day camp. The Deputy Commissioner of the Corporation expressed his happiness, saying, "The enthusiasm of the people who came to pay taxes is encouraging."

The Corporation Commissioner praised the public's cooperation, stating, "This special camp has increased the tax collection rate. The public's cooperation is commendable."

The collected tax amount will be utilized for various development projects including road improvement, water supply, waste management, public health, and street light maintenance. The Corporation's financial expert commented, "The increase in tax collection will aid urban development. However, we need to make tax payment even easier for the public."
