In the first case, a man was arrested for illegally selling liquor near Kavundampalayam. Police constable Mohan Kumar, attached to the Kavundampalayam police station, was on patrol duty on the Gaundampalayam-Nallampalaiyam Road when he discovered an illegal liquor sale operation near a bakery. The suspect, identified as Jayapandi (29) from Kannampalayam near Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district, was caught red-handed.

During the arrest, Jayapandi allegedly verbally abused constable Mohan Kumar and threatened him with dire consequences.
