DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran Criticizes AIADMK and BJP, Discusses Various Political Issues

DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran addressed various political issues during a press conference in Coimbatore, criticizing the AIADMK and BJP while discussing topics like One Nation One Election, NEET, and Modi's foreign trips.

Coimbatore: DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran launched a scathing attack on the AIADMK and BJP during a press conference held in Coimbatore on Sunday. The event took place following a zonal-level consultation meeting of the DMK's Sports Development Team at a private hotel, which was attended by Minister Muthusamy and MP Dayanidhi Maran.

Maran criticized the central government for not conducting a population census or caste-based census in the past 10 years, despite many countries having completed their censuses. He expressed suspicion over the BJP government's plans for "One Nation One Election," stating that it seems like a conspiracy, especially when elections are just being held in Kashmir.

The DMK MP raised concerns about the "One Nation One Election" concept, pointing out that there are many complications and unanswered questions surrounding it. He accused the BJP government of diverting attention from people's problems, citing the Annapoorna issue as an example. Maran suggested that the people of Coimbatore might be feeling intimidated by the government's handling of the Annapoorna matter.

Maran also highlighted the disparity in treatment between Hindi and Tamil speakers, alleging that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman respects those who ask questions in Hindi at events in North India, but the same courtesy is not extended to Tamil speakers. He criticized the government's response to people's issues, saying they deflect by making irrelevant statements like "I don't eat onions."

The MP touched upon various other topics, including the NEET exam controversies, Modi's foreign trips, and the BJP's alleged use of religion in politics. He also commented on the AIADMK's current state, saying the party is going through a difficult time and unable to stand up straight due to a "bent backbone." Maran blamed former Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami for enslaving the party to the BJP.

Responding to a question about OPS's comments on cases filed against AIADMK's Vaithilingam and former minister S.P. Velumani, Maran retorted, "Didn't they know about the money taken when they were ruling together?"
