Former Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan attended a BJP meeting in Tirupur, criticizing the DMK government's handling of drug issues and their focus on making Udhayanidhi Stalin Deputy Chief Minister.
Tirupur: Former Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan attended a BJP meeting in Thottipalayam near Kangeyam, Tirupur district, where she criticized the DMK government's handling of various issues, particularly the drug problem in Tamil Nadu.
The meeting, organized by the BJP's Kangeyam constituency, was attended by over 200 party members, including National General Committee member Point Mani, Nilgiris Parliamentary in-charge Nandakumar, and other local leaders.
Speaking to reporters, Soundararajan expressed deep concern about the widespread drug menace in Tamil Nadu. She stated, "Drugs are easily available everywhere, and this needs to be controlled immediately. It's alarming that even school teachers are reportedly inviting students to use drugs."
The former governor announced her intention to hold a conference to address the drug issue, echoing the sentiments of VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan. She emphasized the urgent need for government action to curb this dangerous trend affecting students and society at large.
Soundararajan also highlighted other issues plaguing the state, such as the stray dog menace. She criticized local bodies for neglecting animal control measures, stating, "People are suffering from dog attacks, especially those raising goats in this area. The government needs to implement a comprehensive plan to address this issue without harming the animals."
Addressing the DMK government's priorities, Soundararajan said, "Their only focus seems to be making Udhayanidhi Stalin the Deputy Chief Minister. They're neglecting critical issues like law and order, theft, and the proper implementation of central government schemes."
She accused the state government of showing bias against central schemes due to political differences. "The state government is not properly implementing good schemes like the Prime Minister's insurance programs, including medical, crop, and life insurance, just because they're central government initiatives," Soundararajan alleged.
The BJP leader called for better coordination between the state and central governments to ensure Tamil Nadu residents benefit from these schemes. She also criticized the government's claims of industrial growth, pointing out the closure of the Samsung factory as a counterexample.
Soundararajan concluded by urging the DMK government to prioritize administrative reforms and address pressing issues affecting the public rather than focusing solely on political maneuvering.
