Coimbatore: A lawyer from Mettupalayam was arrested on charges of photographing a college student and behaving inappropriately on the Coimbatore-Mettupalayam Memo train. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, leading to protests at the Mettupalayam railway station.

Abdul Razak, a lawyer from Mani Nagar area in Mettupalayam, was a regular commuter on the Memo train between Mettupalayam and Coimbatore. He allegedly had a history of taking pictures and videos of college students and women passengers during his daily train journeys.

On Wednesday evening, while traveling from Coimbatore to Mettupalayam, Razak reportedly photographed a college student using his mobile phone. He was also accused of leering at her and deliberately brushing against her during the journey.

Shocked by his behavior, the college student filed a complaint with the Railway Police at Mettupalayam station as soon as the train arrived. The situation escalated when several other women passengers came forward, claiming they had experienced similar inappropriate behavior from Razak in the past.

The complaints led to a tense situation at the railway station, with a group of passengers staging a protest demanding action against the accused. Based on the college student's complaint, the Railway Police arrested Abdul Razak and initiated an investigation into the matter.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of women passengers on local trains and highlighted the need for increased vigilance and security measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
