Tamil Nadu Forest Minister Dr. M. Mathiventhan will inaugurate the 27th State Forest Department Sports Meet on September 19, 2023, at the State Forest College playground in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore.

Coimbatore: N. Karthik, the DMK Urban District Secretary of Coimbatore and former MLA, has announced that the 27th State Forest Department Sports Meet will be inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Forest Minister Dr. M. Mathiventhan on September 19, 2023. The event is scheduled to take place at the State Forest College playground on Mettupalayam Road, Coimbatore.

In a Facebook post on September 18, Karthik shared the details of the upcoming event. He stated that the inauguration ceremony would commence at 9:00 AM on Tuesday. The DMK leader extended an invitation to all party executives, local body representatives, active members, and volunteers within the Coimbatore urban district DMK to attend the sports meet.

The announcement highlights the government's commitment to promoting sports activities within various departments. The Forest Department's annual sports meet serves as a platform for forest officials and staff to showcase their athletic abilities and foster a spirit of camaraderie among employees.

This event is expected to draw participation from forest department personnel across Tamil Nadu, making it a significant gathering for the state's forestry community. The choice of Mettupalayam as the venue is fitting, given its proximity to forest areas and its role in forestry education with the presence of the State Forest College.
