300 Petitions Received at Coimbatore Collector's Office During Public Grievance Day Meeting

At the Public Grievance Day meeting held at Coimbatore District Collector's office on 16.09.2024, District Revenue Officer Dr. Mo. Sharmila received 300 petitions from the public and directed officials to take swift action.


Coimbatore: The Public Grievance Day meeting at the Coimbatore District Collector's office on September 16, 2024, saw a significant turnout of citizens seeking resolution to various issues. District Revenue Officer Dr. Mo. Sharmila presided over the event, receiving petitions from the public and instructing relevant officials to take prompt action on the complaints.

The meeting was attended by several prominent officials, including Kalaimamani C. Kalarani, a member of the Tamil Nadu Rural Welfare Board's administrative committee, Mrs. M. Kokila, the Personal Assistant (General) to the District Collector, Ms. Madhu Abhinaya, Deputy Collector (Training), Mr. Suresh, Special Deputy Collector for Social Security Schemes, and Mrs. Maheswari, the District Manager of TAHDCO, among others.



During the meeting, citizens submitted petitions concerning various requests, including old-age pensions, patta transfers, new family cards, and house site pattas. The breakdown of the 300 petitions received is as follows: 53 for free housing, 102 for house site pattas, 8 for employment opportunities, and 137 miscellaneous requests.

Dr. Sharmila handed over these petitions to the concerned department officials, instructing them to take action within the stipulated time frame. Additionally, on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Rural Artists Welfare Board, she distributed welfare benefits to 13 beneficiaries totaling Rs. 65,000. This included Rs. 1,500 for spectacles to one beneficiary, Rs. 13,000 as educational assistance to 10 beneficiaries, and Rs. 25,000 each to two individuals as funeral assistance.

The Public Grievance Day meeting continues to serve as a vital platform for citizens to directly present their concerns to district officials, ensuring a more responsive and efficient local government.
