Man Arrested for Illegal Gravel Sand Transportation on Thudiyalur-Pannimadai Road, Coimbatore

Revenue officials intercepted a lorry illegally transporting gravel sand on Thudiyalur-Pannimadai Road in Coimbatore on September 13. The sand was seized and the driver arrested.


Coimbatore: Revenue department officials in Coimbatore seized a lorry illegally transporting gravel sand and confiscated the cargo on September 13. The operation was led by Vijayakumar, the Special Revenue Inspector from the Coimbatore Collector's office.

The team of officials conducted a vehicle check on the Thudiyalur-Pannimadai Road. They intercepted a tipper lorry near Palanigounden Pudur and discovered it was carrying gravel sand without proper permits.

Following this discovery, Vijayakumar filed a complaint with the Thudiyalur Police. Acting on the complaint, the police seized the tipper lorry along with three units of gravel sand.

The driver of the lorry, identified as Salamon Raj (36) from Kangeyam in Tirupur district, was arrested for his involvement in the illegal sand transportation.

Officials have issued a stern warning that strict action will be taken against those engaged in illegal sand mining and transportation without proper authorization. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts to curb unauthorized mining activities in the region.
