Tamil Maanila Congress Chief G.K. Vasan Criticizes Law and Order Situation in Tamil Nadu

G.K. Vasan, Tamil Maanila Congress leader, expresses concern over rising crime rates in Tamil Nadu during his visit to Udumalpet. He calls for government action on various issues including crime, irrigation, and transportation.

Coimbatore: Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) party chief G.K. Vasan has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Tamil Nadu. Speaking to reporters in Udumalpet, Tiruppur district, where he attended a wedding ceremony, Vasan highlighted the increasing incidents of murder, robbery, drug peddling, and sexual offenses across the state.

Vasan urged the state government to take immediate action to control these issues. He also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent comments abroad about the Indian parliamentary elections, stating that such remarks were unacceptable.

Addressing the upcoming anti-liquor conference organized by the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Vasan reminded that the TMC had conducted several protests for total prohibition a few years ago. He affirmed that the party's stance on complete alcohol prohibition remains unchanged.

The TMC leader also raised concerns about irrigation issues in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts. He pointed out that due to irregularities in the Parambikulam-Aliyar irrigation project, water is not reaching the tail-end areas. Vasan called for urgent action from the Tamil Nadu government to address this problem.

Highlighting the plight of coconut farmers in Udumalpet, Madathukulam, and Pollachi regions, Vasan mentioned the increasing incidence of leaf blight disease affecting coconut trees. He urged concerned officials to take appropriate measures to tackle this issue.

Vasan also commented on various infrastructure and public service matters. He called for expediting the four-lane highway work between Madathukulam and Pollachi, which is progressing at a slow pace. Additionally, he requested the introduction of more trains to Chennai and Bengaluru from Udumalpet railway station to cater to the daily commuters, including workers and students.

The TMC chief pointed out the difficulties faced by the public due to non-computerization of various services related to Natham housing plot patents, including measurement and field mapping. He urged the authorities to rectify these issues promptly.

Regarding his party's position, Vasan stated that the TMC is currently focused on strengthening its base and preparing for the upcoming assembly elections. He also remarked that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), being a major national party, doesn't need electoral strategy advice from others.

The event was attended by several TMC officials, including state vice-president Vidiyak Sekar, state general secretary Yuvaraja, western zone youth wing leader Abirami Senthil Kumar, Tiruppur South district president Rathinavel, and Tiruppur South district treasurer G.R. Senthil Kumar, among others.
