Coimbatore: In a significant event promoting student welfare, Coimbatore MP Ganapathy Rajkumar distributed free bicycles to students at the Government Higher Secondary School in Kalappatti area on September 2. This initiative is part of the Dravidian Model Chief Minister's student welfare scheme, aimed at enhancing educational accessibility for students.

The event saw the participation of several key figures from the local administration and educational departments. Among the attendees were Thondamuthur Ravi, the Coimbatore North District Secretary, Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar, Deputy Mayor Vetri Selvan, and Education Committee Chairperson Malathi.



Other notable participants included Ilanjselvi Karthik, the East Zone Chairman, District Education Officer Paramasivam, and District Deputy Secretary Ashok Babu Arukutti. The event also saw the presence of Local Branch Secretary Ponnusamy, Assistant Headmaster Kannan, and 8th Ward Councilor Vijayakumar.

Municipal Councilors Chitra K. Maniyan and Govindraj, former Councilors Mohan Ranganathan and Ragupathi, and General Committee members Palanisamy and Devaraj were also present. The gathering was further graced by Executive Committee member T.P. Subramaniam and Lions Club representatives Loganathan and Chandrasekhar.



The distribution of free bicycles is expected to significantly improve the mobility of students, especially those from economically weaker sections, thereby encouraging regular school attendance and reducing dropout rates. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to education and student welfare in the region.
