Man Arrested for Ganja Trafficking Near Athipalayam-Keeranatham Road, Coimbatore

Coimbatore police arrested a man from Theni district for attempting to sell ganja near Athipalayam-Keeranatham Road on August 30. One kilogram of ganja was seized during the operation.


Coimbatore: The Kovilpalayam police station in Coimbatore received confidential information on August 30 about ganja being brought for sale in their jurisdiction. Acting swiftly on this tip-off, the police conducted a search operation near the Athipalayam-Keeranatham Road.

During the operation, the police apprehended a man identified as Veera alias Veerakumar (34), hailing from Theni district. He was caught red-handed while attempting to sell ganja in the area. The police seized one kilogram of ganja from his possession.

Following his arrest, Veerakumar was produced before the local court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. The Kovilpalayam police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations to uncover any potential drug trafficking networks connected to this incident.

This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the Coimbatore police to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse in the city. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trade in their neighborhoods.
