Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad's Durga Vahini celebrated Raksha Bandhan with police officers at Selvapuram B-10 Police Station in Coimbatore on August 19, 2024, tying rakhis to symbolize brotherhood and protection.

Coimbatore: The Durga Vahini wing of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) celebrated Raksha Bandhan with police officers at the Selvapuram B-10 Police Station in Coimbatore on Monday, August 19, 2024. The event was organized to emphasize and remind the spirit of brotherhood between citizens and law enforcement.

Raksha Bandhan, traditionally celebrated on the full moon day of the Tamil month of Aavani, symbolizes the love and bond between brothers and sisters. Although primarily a festival of northern states, it has gradually gained popularity in Tamil Nadu as well. On this day, sisters tie rakhi threads on their brothers' wrists, expressing love and seeking protection.

As part of the celebration, Sudha, the district organizer of VHP's Durga Vahini, led the event at the Selvapuram B-10 Police Station. The Durga Vahini members tied rakhis to the police officers, acknowledging their role as protectors of the nation and symbolically extending the concept of brotherhood to include the relationship between citizens and law enforcement personnel.

This gesture not only celebrated the traditional essence of Raksha Bandhan but also aimed to strengthen the bond between the public and the police force, fostering a sense of mutual respect and cooperation in maintaining law and order in society.
