Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya's 5th Annual Sports Tournament for Disabled Individuals Draws 700 Participants

The Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya in Coimbatore hosted its fifth annual sports tournament for disabled individuals, attracting 700 participants from across Tamil Nadu. The event featured eight sports activities and concluded with an award ceremony.


Coimbatore: The Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya in Coimbatore successfully conducted its fifth annual grand tournament for disabled individuals, with nearly 700 participants from across Tamil Nadu showcasing their talents in various sports and competitions.

The event commenced with an opening ceremony attended by prominent figures including Swami Bhaktikamanandaji Maharaj, Adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Math, Coimbatore, Swami Garishthanandaji Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Institutions, and other dignitaries. The ceremony featured the hoisting of the National flag, followed by the University and Vidyalaya flags.



Despite previous day's rain, the tournament proceeded smoothly with eight distinct sports activities. Participants of varying abilities competed with enthusiasm and spirit, demonstrating their skills and endurance.



The tournament concluded with an award distribution ceremony, where winners received cash awards worth several lakh rupees, medals, mementos, gifts, and certificates. The Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya covered travel, boarding, and lodging expenses for all participants and their companions.



Held on the eve of India's 78th Independence Day, the event included a patriotic march-past by participants who saluted the national flag and sang the National Anthem. Swami Garishthanandaji Maharaj addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of such events in fostering community and empowerment among disabled individuals.



The Secretary highlighted the institute's commitment to creating opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their physical abilities. This annual tournament has become a vital platform for promoting sports and inclusivity within the community.
