Students in Black Attire Denied Entry at Governor's Event in Coimbatore

Controversy erupted as police denied entry to students wearing black attire at an event attended by Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi at PSG College in Coimbatore, asking them to change clothes.

Coimbatore: Tension prevailed at PSG College in Coimbatore as police denied entry to students wearing black attire at an event attended by Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi, instructing them to change their clothes before entering.

The event, held on the PSG College campus, was an interaction between Governor R.N. Ravi and students who scored high marks in the Civil Services examination. Students who excelled in the Civil Services exam and college students participated in the program. Heavy police security was deployed on the college campus in anticipation of the Governor's visit.

As the event unfolded, students and journalists wearing black attire were initially denied entry to the auditorium where the event was taking place.

This led to an argument between the police and journalists, after which only the journalists were allowed entry. Meanwhile, police refused to allow students wearing black clothes into the auditorium and asked them to return wearing different attire.

Invitations were extended to various colleges to participate in the interaction event, with arrangements made for them to watch the program in separate rooms. However, due to insufficient room arrangements, police prevented many students who arrived for the event from entering. This resulted in students being made to wait outside the auditorium entrance. After a considerable delay, they were finally allowed into the rooms.

The incident sparked controversy and raised questions about the handling of security measures at the event.
