Coimbatore: The construction of the Avinashi Road flyover in Coimbatore has reached a significant milestone, with 72% of the work completed, according to a press release from the Highways Department. The 10.1 km flyover, which stretches from Goldwins to Uppilipalayam, is being built at a total cost of ₹1,621.30 crore.

On Friday, August 9, 2024, M. Saravanan, Director of the Highways Research Station in Chennai, conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction work. The inspection covered various aspects of the project, including the down ramp work near the airport junction and the main carriageway work at Thennampalayam.

The Avinashi Road flyover project is a crucial infrastructure development for Coimbatore, aimed at easing traffic congestion along one of the city's busiest corridors. Once completed, it is expected to significantly improve connectivity and reduce travel time for commuters.

The press release did not provide details on the expected completion date of the project. However, with nearly three-quarters of the work finished, it is anticipated that the flyover will be operational in the near future, subject to the remaining construction proceeding as planned.

The Highways Department continues to monitor the progress of the project closely, ensuring that the construction meets the required standards and specifications. Regular inspections by officials like M. Saravanan play a vital role in maintaining the quality and timely execution of such large-scale infrastructure projects.
