Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has announced that 59 B.Tech (Biotechnology) students from its Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology are participating in a National Service Scheme (NSS) camp at Karadimadai village in Coimbatore from August 5 to 9, 2024.

The students are conducting two daily interactive sessions with farmers in Karadimadai. Expert professors from TNAU have been invited to provide solutions and advice for the issues faced by Coimbatore farmers.

On August 6, 2024, the NSS students organized a discussion session on "Benefits of Using Tissue Culture Banana Plantlets." The meeting was attended by about 32 banana and vegetable farmers from Karadimadai village, along with the village deputy head, Ramachandran. The experts also clarified the procedures for farmers to access this training.

The scientists answered farmers' queries about tissue culture for other crops. At the end of the session, tissue culture G9 multiplication and red banana seedlings were distributed to interested farmers.
