Young Communicators Club Launched by PRCI at GRD College

The Public Relations Council of India (PRCI), Coimbatore Chapter, and Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science celebrated World PR Day 2026 by launching the Young Communicators Club to enhance students' communication, leadership and industry engagement skills.


Coimbatore: The Public Relations Council of India (PRCI), Coimbatore Chapter, in association with the School of Communication, Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science, celebrated World PR Day 2026 and inaugurated the Young Communicators Club (YCC) at the college campus.

The event was attended by academicians, public relations professionals, industry leaders, faculty members, students and media representatives. Welcoming the gathering, Dr. S. Sasikala, Associate Professor and Head of the School of Communication, said the Young Communicators Club had been established to develop students' leadership abilities, strengthen communication skills, provide industry exposure and create professional networking opportunities.

Delivering the felicitation address, Dr. T. Santha, Principal of Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science, appreciated the collaboration between PRCI and the institution. She said educational institutions must equip students with practical knowledge, ethical values, critical thinking and confidence to help them excel professionally and contribute meaningfully to society.

Presiding over the function, Dr. S. Prahadeeshwaran, Chairman of PRCI Coimbatore Chapter, said public relations is built on trust, credibility and meaningful relationships. Encouraging students to become responsible communicators, he urged them to uphold honesty, empathy and integrity in every interaction while embracing continuous learning and ethical communication practices.

A highlight of the programme was the formal inauguration of the Young Communicators Club through the unveiling of a commemorative foam board. The club aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations by offering students opportunities to participate in workshops, seminars, media interactions, leadership development programmes, internships and community engagement initiatives.

The occasion also featured the presentation of the PRCI Lifetime Achievement Award to veteran Public Relations Officer S. Natarajan in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the profession. Accepting the honour, he encouraged students to remain committed to lifelong learning, professionalism and ethical values throughout their careers.

Addressing the gathering, R. Swaminathan, Director (NE), Public Relations Council of India, highlighted the growing importance of strategic communication in the digital era. He described the Young Communicators Club as a timely initiative that would nurture future communication professionals while strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.
