Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam dispatched essential relief materials worth Rs 2 lakh from Coimbatore to flood-affected Wayanad, Kerala on August 3. The initiative aims to support victims of recent landslides and heavy rains in the region.

Coimbatore: In response to the devastating landslides and continuous heavy rains in Kerala, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has sent relief materials worth Rs 2 lakh from Coimbatore to Wayanad. This initiative comes as part of the ongoing efforts to support the flood-affected victims in Kerala.

The recent landslides in Kerala have resulted in the burial of hundreds of families, with rescue operations still ongoing due to persistent heavy rainfall. As of the fifth day of rescue operations, the death toll is reported to have exceeded 300, with intensive rescue efforts continuing.

Various states across India have been sending relief materials to Kerala, and numerous volunteers are actively participating in rescue operations. Many affected individuals who lost their homes in the landslides have been rescued and accommodated in camps set up in different locations.

Responding to this crisis, TVK leader Vijay instructed his volunteers to send necessary relief materials to the affected areas. Following this directive, the Coimbatore South District President Vicky and Youth Wing leader Babu of TVK coordinated the relief efforts.

The relief materials dispatched include essential items such as clothes, footwear, blankets, pillows, and buckets, totaling a value of Rs 2 lakh. These items were sent to Wayanad, one of the severely affected districts in Kerala.

TVK officials stated that this is the first phase of relief materials sent from Coimbatore district on the morning of August 3. They assured that the organization would continue to send necessary supplies to the people of Wayanad in the coming days.

The timely response and support from TVK highlight the solidarity shown by organizations and individuals across state borders during times of natural calamities.
