Fly Dubai Expresses Interest in Daily Flight Service to Coimbatore

Fly Dubai's VP of Commercial Operations for the Indian Subcontinent expressed keen interest in operating daily flights from Coimbatore to Dubai, pending support from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Coimbatore: Fly Dubai, the Emirati government-owned low-cost airline, has expressed strong interest in operating daily flights from Coimbatore to Dubai, provided they receive necessary support from India's Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Pran Sathiadasan, VP Commercial Operations, Indian Subcontinent - Fly Dubai, made this announcement during the Luxury Travel Show held in Coimbatore on Saturday. The event was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Minister of Tourism, Ramachandran, and attended by Coimbatore Airport Director Senthil Valavan, among other distinguished guests.

"We are very keen to have more flights to operate to Coimbatore. We would like Coimbatore to be added as a point of call," said Sathiadasan. He appealed to the Tourism Minister and other influential attendees to support their request with the Ministry of Civil Aviation to increase capacity to India. "Should we get that, we are happy to consider operating at least a daily service connecting Coimbatore with Dubai and beyond," he added.

Sathiadasan emphasized that India's secondary cities, including Coimbatore, represent a significant growth opportunity. He stated that Coimbatore, as one of the leading cities in this category, deserves more international flight connections.

Currently, Fly Dubai operates about 30 flights a week to eight cities in India, but Coimbatore is yet to be included in their network. The city has long desired direct connectivity to Dubai.

Coimbatore Airport Director Senthil Valavan shared positive developments regarding the airport's future. He announced that the airport is entering an expansion phase and has recently added two additional international connections. Valavan also mentioned that Tamil Nadu Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin is developing a cricket stadium in Coimbatore, which is expected to boost sports tourism in the region.

The potential addition of a daily Fly Dubai service could significantly enhance Coimbatore's international connectivity, benefiting both business and leisure travelers.
