YouTuber 'Savukku' Shankar, arrested for defamatory remarks, received medical treatment in Attur, Salem district, for stomach pain while being transferred from Coimbatore to Chennai's Puzhal Prison on Wednesday.

Coimbatore: YouTuber 'Savukku' Shankar, who was recently arrested for making defamatory remarks against women police personnel, received medical treatment at the Government Hospital in Attur, Salem district, on Wednesday due to complaints of stomach pain during his transfer to Puzhal Prison in Chennai.

Shankar, who had been granted one-day custody to the Nilgiris police, was produced in a court in the Nilgiris on Tuesday evening after the custody period ended. Following the court proceedings, he was initially taken to Coimbatore Central Prison.

On Wednesday morning, as Shankar was being transported in a police vehicle to Chennai via the Salem – Ulundurpet National Highway, he complained of stomach pain. Responding to his discomfort, the escorting officers diverted the vehicle to the Government Hospital in Attur at approximately 12:30 p.m.

At the hospital, doctors examined Shankar and provided necessary treatment for his reported stomach pain. After about two hours of medical attention, he was discharged at 2:30 p.m. Following his treatment and discharge, the journey to Chennai resumed, with Shankar being taken to Puzhal Prison to continue his custody.

This medical intervention briefly interrupted the transfer process but ensured that the YouTuber received prompt medical attention for his health concerns while in police custody.
