Supreme Court to Resume Hearing on Senthil Balaji's Bail Petition Today

The Supreme Court is set to resume hearing on DMK minister V Senthil Balaji's bail petition today. The court had previously adjourned the case due to the absence of the Solicitor General representing the Enforcement Directorate.

Coimbatore: The Supreme Court is scheduled to resume hearing on the bail petition filed by Tamil Nadu minister V Senthil Balaji today. The case, which was initially heard last Monday, was adjourned to Wednesday (24-07-2024) at the request of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

During the previous hearing, Senthil Balaji's legal team argued for his immediate release from custody. They emphasized that the minister's health condition has deteriorated while he remains incarcerated. The defense counsel contended that the court should consider Balaji's health status and grant him bail.

The defense also raised questions about the progress of the ED's investigation, stating, "Only God knows what the Enforcement Directorate is investigating and when they will conclude their inquiry and make a decision." This statement was made to highlight the perceived delay in the investigation process.

However, the ED's side requested a postponement of the hearing due to the absence of the Solicitor General. The judges, considering this request, agreed to adjourn the case to Wednesday.

The arrest and continued detention of Senthil Balaji, a prominent DMK leader and minister, has been a subject of significant political and legal discourse in Tamil Nadu. As the Supreme Court prepares to hear the case again, all eyes will be on the proceedings and the potential outcome of the bail petition.
