Coimbatore: A private Omni bus en route from Thiruvannamalai to Coimbatore caught fire near Sitra in Coimbatore on Wednesday. The incident caused panic among passengers, but quick action by the bus crew ensured everyone's safety.

According to reports, the fire broke out suddenly while the bus was in motion. The alert driver immediately halted the vehicle and evacuated all passengers. Within minutes, the entire bus was engulfed in flames, reducing it to ashes.



Upon receiving information about the incident, the Peelamedu Fire and Rescue Services rushed to the spot. They swiftly brought the fire under control by spraying water, preventing it from spreading to nearby areas.

The Peelamedu Police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire. They are exploring possibilities such as a diesel leak or an electrical short circuit in the air conditioning system as potential triggers for the blaze.

The incident has highlighted the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and emergency preparedness in public transportation. Authorities are likely to review safety protocols for long-distance buses in light of this incident.
