Special Prayers and Rituals Mark First Friday of Aadi Month in Udumalaipettai Temples

Devotees participate in special prayers and rituals at various temples in Udumalaipettai, Tiruppur district, to mark the first Friday of Aadi month. Mariamman Temple and other local shrines witness large gatherings for worship.


Coimbatore: The first Friday of the Tamil month of Aadi was celebrated with fervor and devotion in various temples across Udumalaipettai, Tiruppur district. The renowned Arulmigu Mariamman Temple in Udumalaipettai saw a large gathering of devotees participating in special prayers and rituals.

At the Mariamman Temple, 14 different types of abhishekams (sacred baths) were performed for the deity, including milk, rose water, turmeric, and curd. Special pujas were conducted, attracting a multitude of devotees who came to seek the goddess's blessings.



Similarly, the Vana Bhadrakaliamman Temple in the 3rd ward of State Bank Colony, under the municipality, also conducted special rituals. The deity was adorned with 14 types of abhishekams, followed by a special deepa aradhanai (lamp worship) and Gomatha puja (cow worship).

Other temples in the area, including the Andal Nachiyar Temple in Kuruncheri and the Thangaathal Temple in Eri Palayam, also performed special abhishekams and pujas for their respective deities. Devotees from surrounding areas thronged these temples to offer their prayers and seek divine blessings on this auspicious day.

The first Friday of Aadi month holds special significance in Tamil culture, particularly for the worship of goddess Amman. The celebrations in Udumalaipettai reflect the deep-rooted traditions and religious fervor of the local community.
