Photographer's Camera and Cash Stolen at Private Hall in Coimbatore

A photographer's camera equipment and cash were stolen at a private hall in Coimbatore while he was working at a function. The incident was captured on CCTV, and the police are investigating the theft.


Coimbatore: A professional photographer fell victim to theft at a private hall in Coimbatore, losing his camera equipment and cash. The incident, which occurred during a function, was captured on CCTV cameras, prompting the photographer to file a complaint at the local police station.

Sadasivam, a resident of Vellalore in Coimbatore, has been working as a photographer for weddings and events for the past 27 years. On the day of the incident, he visited a private hall in the Ramanathapuram area to photograph a baby shower ceremony, carrying two cameras with him.

While Sadasivam was busy taking photographs of the expectant mother and her relatives, he had left one of his camera bags on the stage. Upon returning, he was shocked to find that the bag containing his camera equipment had vanished. Immediately, Sadasivam reviewed the CCTV footage of the area, which revealed a young man picking up his camera bag and walking away with it.

According to Sadasivam, the stolen bag contained camera equipment worth approximately 4 lakh rupees, including the camera body, lens, and charger, along with 15,000 rupees in cash. He promptly filed a complaint at the Ramanathapuram Police Station regarding the theft.

The Ramanathapuram police have initiated an investigation into the incident. They are currently analyzing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify and apprehend the culprit. The authorities are working diligently to recover the stolen equipment and cash, which represent a significant loss for the veteran photographer.
